Smythson | Emma Bell Portfolio

For 6 months I worked at Smythson of Bond Street as their social media and content assistant. As a social media team of one at Smythson I was responsible for managing and maintaining all platforms, developing and executing a social strategy and ensuring a strong brand voice was upheld. I created all of Smythson's social media content across all of the brands channels which included shooting in house content and editing these using Adobe software as well as organising and project managing external shoots on location.

A key part of this role involved using analytics to better understand the brands performance to determine future actions and content. I took ownership of reporting on each channels performance on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis, understanding key key analytics such as channel engagement, impressions, growth figures with supporting analysis, learnings and future recommendations.

Working with the brands editor I was able to work across copy for the website, emails, product descriptions, press releases and more to ensure a strong and coherent brand voice. I also would write briefs for internal and external use such as for content creators, influencers and partnership usage. The role needed close collaboration with various teams including PR, e-commerce, production and merchandising. I have implemented a marketing calendar for the wider company to ensure all brand activities are aligned. I have also set up a content management system and also created a social media plan and strategy that is being implemented - this includes pinpointing content pillars and defining these for wider business usage.

Our impressions are up by 9.8% and engagements up 6.4%

Our Instagram following in particular has grown by 5k and has seen much higher user engagement
